Session Title:
Enterprise-scale MDD and code generation: Challenges after the initial adoption
Session Type: Case study
Session Duration: 75 minutes
Session Description:
This case study presents the main challenges and solutions developed during four years of applying MDD and code generation in several large-scale, enterprise-critical projects. The questions we’ll present will be of interest to anyone, in any role, involved in adopting MDD and generation:
- How should configuration control of models work, and how should deliverables and baselines of code and models between multiple teams work?
- Where should the different levels of model validation, specifically the domain-specific issues, be checked? How is checking integrated with the build process?
- What really are the key features of a code generator, for large-scale adoption?
- How do we gradually evolve a meta-model, while teams are delivering working software? How much does the meta-model change anyway?
- How do business analysts, testers and customers fit in?
The case study is based on quantitative metrics, formal debriefs and informal anecdotes gathered during several years of hands-on experience.
Intended Audience:
Anyone involved with implementing or adopting MDD or code generation for large-scale or long-term software projects.Session outputs: The presentation will be made available online after the event.

WHAT PEOPLE SAID ABOUT OUR PREVIOUS EVENTS
"The combined—for that matter, individual—expertise present was remarkable, and presented a tremendous opportunity for knowledge exchange."
"The presentations were all top quality, making it often difficult to decide between the concurrently running sessions. The wealth of MDD knowledge present at the event was impressive, not only from the presenters, but from the other delegates as well."
"I enjoyed the conference very much, it has been the best conference of the last years I’ve been to. A very good selection of speakers, but I also think that the level of expertise of the audience was very high, much higher than I expected. ... it gives the opportunity to dig much deeper."
"I've been working in domain-specific modelling for a dozen years … and in this time this has been the highest-quality conference on this topic that I've been to - and I've been to a few."
"I'll definitely try to attend next year and will recommend this conference to my colleagues and customers."
"Three very long, exhausting but thoroughly enjoyable and very informative days."
"[A] great opportunity to meet with influential practitioners in the field."
