EXAMPLE SESSION PROPOSAL 2
Interested in making a session proposal? Please take a look at this and our first example to get an idea of the sort of information we need:
Session Title: The PISA Project. A MDD case study
Session Type: Case study
Session Duration: 75 minutes
Session Description:
This session will present a complete MDD application developed for a bank. It will cover the goals of the project, development stages, technologies used, problems and best practices learned and economic rationale.
PISA is a two years project started in 2005 initially conceived as a platform migration project. More than 2000 banking functions in the financial terminal implemented in VB 5.0, C++ and proprietary runtime needed to be ported to C#.
To reduce maintenance costs and to mitigate the risk & cost of future technology migrations, a full MDD approach has been taken.
Tool support for the model was built on Visual Studio 2005. This included DSL tools, strong integration with VS (VS SDK), source control, syntax coloring, intellisense™, model validation and full code generation to C#.
We will also consider how the bank’s three main goals for the project were met:
- A gain in developer productivity.
- Workload variability management.
- Future-proofing in-house processes and know-how for the next wave of technology.
Intended Audience:
Model Driven Development practitioners, any person interested in Software Engineering, Software Factories and Software Industrialization.
Session outputs: A summary of the slides and a video/flash-recorded demo of the system could be provided. A summary article describing the case study could be published on The Code Generation Network.
See our Call for Speakers for more information on making a session proposal. Please note that session proposals must reach the organisers no later than Friday January 15th 2010.
WHAT PEOPLE SAID ABOUT OUR PREVIOUS EVENTS
"The combined—for that matter, individual—expertise present was remarkable, and presented a tremendous opportunity for knowledge exchange."
"The presentations were all top quality, making it often difficult to decide between the concurrently running sessions. The wealth of MDD knowledge present at the event was impressive, not only from the presenters, but from the other delegates as well."
"I enjoyed the conference very much, it has been the best conference of the last years I’ve been to. A very good selection of speakers, but I also think that the level of expertise of the audience was very high, much higher than I expected. ... it gives the opportunity to dig much deeper."
"I've been working in domain-specific modelling for a dozen years … and in this time this has been the highest-quality conference on this topic that I've been to - and I've been to a few."
"I'll definitely try to attend next year and will recommend this conference to my colleagues and customers."
"Three very long, exhausting but thoroughly enjoyable and very informative days."
"[A] great opportunity to meet with influential practitioners in the field."
