Eclipse Modeling Framework

Turns out there is a whole book dedicated to the Eclipse Modeling Framework, which is the active generator embedded in the Eclipse Java IDE. Who knew? The authors are sending me a copy so that I can interview them about the book for the site.

Central

This may seem like blatant self promotion because I work for Macromedia. But I don't work on Flash or Central, so it's not that bad. Honestly, Central is pretty cool. Though I wish I could find more modules for it.

Fowler on Ruby and XSLT

Martin Fowler has a blog entry up on using Ruby and Rexml instead of XSLT. Great stuff!

135 generators

I just hit 135 generators in the generator database. That has to be the most complete and focused set of generators in existence. Strange thing is, I still think there are a bunch of generators out there that I don't know about. Consider that I have added about twenty generators in the last week.

Joy leaving Sun

Bill Joy leaving Sun is a really bad sign. I've heard around the town that Sun is losing senior headcount, but this one has to be particularly frightening.

Statistics from Thursday's Slashdotting

As I look at the morning statistics. Amazon sales ranking on Code Generation in Action is at 184. CGN matched or exceeded all of the traffic from last month (our best month previous) in most of the tracking categories in one day. We had 6,000 visits, 19,000 pages and 210,990 hits, in all we transferred 2.68 Gigabytes of HTML and images. Wow.

Great review

I love reviews like this:

A co-worker of mine saw my Manning gifted copy and went and bought it himself. Without knowing Ruby, he in one day has added some code generation of a piece he was doing a lot of drudgery cut-and-paste with before. He used the techniques straight from the book and is very pleased!
